Luthier specialising in the making of hand made Selmer style guitars.
I began using saws and other tools when I was a kid around the house and in my dad’s workshop and I’ve been playing guitar on and off since my early teens.
When I was 16 I put them both together and went to study classical guitar making at the London Guildhall University which is now about 25 years ago, thats how I started with lutherie. Later I studied ethnomusicology at SOAS University.
I then went on to study steel string guitar making with master guitar maker Sergei de Jonge in Chelsea, Canada.
Now I make steel string guitars and other instruments, but I specialise in making Selmer Maccaferri style guitars which are used for playing gypsy jazz – jazz manouche.
My emphasis is on using high quality woods and building guitars with excellent tonal qualities, loud and responsive instruments for gigging professional musicians.
The inspiration comes from the search for the best guitar I could own and from the music of Django Reinhardt and other great guitarists…
